This fall, join us for a very special concert to benefit the University Club Foundation. Thomas Gabriel, singer/songwriter and grandson of the legendary Johnny Cash, comes to the clubhouse for a concert featuring Americana/roots music with a hint of country and rock.

To start off the night, enjoy an upscale southern buffet of southern favorites. You can expect Chef Rafat's take on shrimp and grits, barbecue, macaroni and cheese and, of course, cornbread.

Following the concert, saunter into the Michigan Room for an "unplugged"-style candlelight concert, featuring a mix of storytelling and Gabriel's original music and covers of his grandfather's classic favorites. Introducing Trivia Night at the Club! Each trivia night will be hosted by the Activities Committee and one of our amazing clubs/societies. Our first Trivia Night is on May 30th. The theme is Iconic Moments of the Millennium, and our highlighted club is Night Owls. This event is open to the entire club membership and not limited to Night Owls members.

On Wednesday, September 20th, Club sommelier Patrick Hymer will lead a casual tasting of Alpine Wines of Italy on the West Terrace of The Parliament. We will explore examples from several high-altitude climes such as Valle d’Aoste, Valtellina, Lessona, Trentino-Alto Adige and the Dolomites. With rising global temperatures, the market share of high-elevation wines is expected to continue to grow, shedding more light on lesser-known regions sommeliers have cherished for years. Join us on the West Terrace of The Parliament to discover Italian delights from the Alps and surrounding foothills.

Please join us in participating in the Annual Blood Drive in memory of member John Ahearne on the 10-year anniversary of his passing. 

In conjunction with the American Red Cross, a blood drive is being conducted in memory of past Board member John Ahearne.

John’s been gone now for 10 years, but his impact on those who knew him continues. An all- around great guy, “Gentleman John” was always willing to go out of his way or roll up a sleeve whenever there was a need. Giving blood to save the lives of people you’ll never meet is one the simplest acts of kindness.
